Summer 2026 Bond 2025 Projects Underway Across Flour Bluff ISD

While students, teachers, and parents enjoy a well-deserved summer break, construction crews, maintenance staff, and technology teams are hard at work completing projects made possible through Bond 2025. Across the district, improvements are underway to modernize facilities, enhance learning environments, strengthen infrastructure, and support student success for years to come.

These projects reflect the community’s investment in Flour Bluff ISD and its commitment to providing safe, innovative, and high-quality educational spaces.

District-Wide Technology Upgrades

Technology improvements are taking place throughout the district this summer. New interactive displays are being installed in Pre-K through sixth-grade classrooms, providing teachers and students with enhanced instructional tools that support engagement and learning.

In addition, new fiber-optic cabling and pathways are being installed to increase internet speed, reliability, and network capacity. These upgrades will help ensure students and staff have access to the technology resources needed both now and in the future.

New Flooring Across Multiple Campuses

District-wide flooring replacement projects are bringing updated, durable surfaces to several campuses, including the Varsity Gym, Early Childhood Center, Primary, Intermediate, Junior High, SDGC HLA, and High School.

These improvements will enhance the appearance, safety, and functionality of classrooms, hallways, and activity spaces while extending the life of district facilities.

Campus Refresh and Ceiling Grid Installation

Flour Bluff ISD maintenance staff are actively completing interior improvements across campuses, including fresh paint in hallways and the installation of new ceiling grids at Flour Bluff Junior High. These upgrades help modernize learning spaces while maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments for students and staff.

Air-Conditioning System Replacements

To improve comfort, reliability, and energy efficiency, aging HVAC units are being replaced at both Flour Bluff High School and Flour Bluff Junior High. These upgrades will provide more dependable climate control, reduce maintenance needs, and support comfortable learning environments for students and staff year-round.

Major Renovations at Flour Bluff Junior High

One of the largest Bond 2025 projects is a major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) renovation at Flour Bluff Junior High. Serving as construction manager, Weaver & Jacobs is overseeing the multi-phase project, which will take place over the summers of 2026 and 2027 to minimize disruptions to instruction.

The work includes new lighting systems, HVAC units, ductwork, chilled water piping, and other infrastructure upgrades designed to improve efficiency, reliability, and comfort throughout the campus. In addition, Flour Bluff ISD maintenance staff are installing new ceiling grids as part of the overall modernization effort.

Early Childhood Center Parking Lot Expansion

Construction is also progressing on the new Early Childhood Center parking lot, another project being managed by Weaver & Jacobs. The improvements will increase parking capacity, improve traffic flow, and enhance safety and convenience for families, staff, and visitors. The project is currently on schedule and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

Fire Alarm System Upgrades

Safety remains a top priority throughout Flour Bluff ISD. This summer, fire alarm systems are being replaced at the Central Kitchen, Administration Building, and High School gyms.

These improvements will help ensure the district’s safety systems remain reliable and up to current standards.

Athletic Facility Improvements

Several Bond 2025 projects are focused on enhancing athletic facilities across the district.

New LED lighting is being installed at the tennis and pickleball courts, baseball and softball fields, Junior High Stadium, and with the addition of two new light poles on the home side of Hornet Stadium. These upgrades will improve visibility, safety, and functionality for student-athletes and community events.

Additional projects include waxing gym floors at the High School and Junior High and resurfacing the Junior High track to enhance practice and competition opportunities for students. The newly resurfaced track is also available for community use during evenings after athletic practices conclude and on days when school is not in session, providing a safe and improved space for walking, running, and fitness activities.

From classroom technology and infrastructure improvements to campus renovations, parking enhancements, and athletic facility upgrades, these projects are helping create learning environments that reflect the district’s commitment to excellence.
