Valedictorian: Kellie Michelle Cyrus

Kellie Michelle Cyrus, the daughter of Michael and Diane Cyrus, was born on May 26, 1992, in Corpus Christi. She has attended Flour Bluff schools since the second grade. Kellie has participated in various activities both in school and in the community. She has volunteered at Relay for Life, Bruno's Bath House, and Therapeutic Horseback Riding. In school, she participated in cross country, track, French Club, and the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE). In her four years of cross country, she accompanied the team to the state meet her sophomore year and ran on varsity her junior and senior years. Beginning in the tenth grade, she has also entered two pieces of art each year to the VASE competition. In both her junior and senior year, she had one piece of artwork advance to the state level; one piece medaled at state. Kellie is also a member of the National Honor Society, and she has been named an AP Scholar with Honor and a National Commended Scholar. This fall, Kellie will be attending the University of Texas at Austin where she plans to major in either biomedical or electrical engineering.

Salutatorian: Angelica Megan Montano

Angelica Megan Montano has attended Flour Bluff schools since the fourth grade. She has been involved in activities ranging from academic and athletic competitions to volunteering and leadership forums throughout her school career. Angelica has played volleyball since her freshman year, and was on varsity for three of the four years. She earned many All-District honors while playing and was also captain her senior year. Angelica also enjoys competing academically. She was a member of the UIL Math and Science team and the Decathlon team, earning state honors on both teams. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and served as the Vice-President of Documentation her senior year. Angelica is a National Hispanic Merit Scholar, an Optimist Club Outstanding Student, and a fi nalist in the Creative Communication Essay Contest. Two awards of which she is particularly proud are the Caller-Times Distinguished Scholar for General Academics and the Flint Hills Scholar Athlete. She is also the 2011 Flour Bluff "Hornet of the Year." Angelica has volunteered at the Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program, Driscoll Children's Hospital, Relay for Life, Red Ribbon Week Assemblies, and she tutors younger students. This fall Angelica will be attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She plans to participate in the Business Fellows program and then enter medical school.
