FBHS Choir Auditions
On September 27, the FBHS Choir competed in the first stage of the TMEA All-State Choir process, District Choir auditions. The choir came home with 30 members of the District Choir and 22 candidates and 6 alternates to advance to the Region Choir auditions in November. Results for the District choir members are:

Soprano 2: Jessica Carlson & Samantha Nagel
Alto 1: Joan Altenberg, Alexis Spaugh, Lauren Goodman, & Shelby East
Alto 2: Alicia Black, Carissa Reyes, Bianca Garzam, Leah Breedlove, Sarah Carmony, Erin Posey and LeAnn Bishop
Tenor 1: Nathan Spencer, Clark Flato & Jacob Huber
Tenor 2: Ereon Milan, David Lopez and Taylor Orner
Bass 2: Steven Keener, Robert Black, Angel Abrego, Ray Randolph and Bruno Barbosa


GO HORNETS GO!
The Tennis team finished undefeated and will be the number 1 seed at the District Tournament October 24-25 at Flour Bluff. The Hornets won 130 out of 133 matches played in district and are ranked 13th in the State!

The Volleyball team is currently 10-0 in district and ranked 7th in the State!

The Football team is currently 6-0 and will host Alice this Friday at Hornet Stadium. The Athletic Booster Club will be passing out maroon pom-poms to the first 1,000 fans.

Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year
Nancy Tyler, a first grade teacher at Flour Bluff Primary School, was selected as Wal-Mart's Teacher of the Year. Representatives from Wal-Mart surprised Mrs. Tyler and her students with balloons, cake and a check for $1,000 for the Primary School.

United Way Campaign Kick-off
A two-week campaign for the United Way has been scheduled at FBISD. The kick-off luncheon will be October 20 for the campus and department coordinators. The campaign will run October 22 - November 5.

The theme for this year is "Hornets in The House...Live United". All employees will be able to contribute through payroll deductions or donate a one time contribution.

Annette Hughes, ECC Principal, is the United Way Coordinator for the District.



Student of the Month
Congratulations to our Frost Bank Student of the Month recipients! Jerret Krouse, FBHS Class of 2001, and Assistant Vice President of Frost, was on hand to present certificates and $25 gift cards to students at the junior high and high school.

Homecoming Festivities
Flour Bluff High School is celebrating Homecoming 2008 the week of October 27-31. The students at the high school will get in the spirit with special "dress" days. The following days have been designated:

Monday: College Day
Tuesday: Twin Day
Wednesday: Blast from the Past
Thursday: Character/Hero Day
Friday: Spirit Day

The HS PTSA will be selling mums in the Hornet Spirit Shop throughout the week. Special orders are available.

The Class of 2009 will be selling homecoming T-shirts. They will be available at the high school and at the Hornet Spirit Shop.

The Hornets will host TM on Friday, October 31 at 7:30 p.m. The homecoming court festivities will start promptly at 6:00 p.m.

The Homecoming dance will be Saturday, November 1 at the Hornet Ballroom (high school cafetorium) from 8-11 p.m.

The Flour Bluff I.S.D. Homecoming Parade is scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2008. The parade will start at 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Compton and Waldron Road and travel south ending at Hornet Stadium. Entry forms are available on the District website and at the Administration office. For more information contact the Public Information Office at 694-9713.
