Flour Bluff Junior High students were treated to a special exhibition by
Todd Keene and the Power Team held in conjunction with the
Red Ribbon Week kick-off sponsored by Communities in Schools.

| FBJH Choir Students |
Congratulations FBJH Choir! After competing at the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Region Choir Auditions at Calallen High School on October 13, eight students were selected to the regional choir. These students will perform in November in Rockport with the full region choir in concert. Sectional results were as follows:
All Region Treble Choir

| Primary & Elementary Chess Club |
 Students from the Flour Bluff Primary and Flour Bluff Elementary Schools' Chess Clubs participated in the Fall Optimist Coastal Bend Chess Federation (OCBCF) tournament in Calallen on October 13. Results were as follows:
K-1 Novice
Austin Andrew Shaw, 1st place; Catherine Shaw, 9th place; Elizabeth Shaw, 10th place; Alexandra Stirling, 12th place; Nicholas Gallegos, 13th place; and Flour Bluff team trophy - 2nd place.
Grade 2-3 Novice
Christopher Ramirez, 1st place; Ethan Herrick, 3rd place; Isabo Turner, 8th place; Collin Protzeller, 10th place; 2nd place Primary team trophy; and 4th place Elementary team trophy.
Grade 4-5 Novice
Cameron Brower, 2nd place; Mary Blankenship,4th place; Russell Purcell, 8th place; and 1st place team trophy.
Primary Division
Ammarie Wallett, 3rd place; Richard Blankenship, 6th place; Alex Wallett, 7th place; and 3rd place team trophy.
Elementary Division
Natanee Wallett, 2nd place; Andrew Perez, 3rd place; Joshua Rasche, 9th place; Jonas Gallegos, 14th place; and 2nd place team trophy.
Middle School - Megan Burkett, 25th place.
The State Girls Tournament was held October 6-7 at the Bay Front Plaza Hotel in Corpus Christi. Results were: Ammarie Wallett, 6th place in K-1; Sarah Muir, 5th place in Primary; Natanee Wallett, 11th place in Elementary.
Boys sections: U500 category - Jonas Gallegos, 5th place and Ryan Breen, 3rd place ; U1100 category - Andrew Perez, 7th place and Alex Wallett, 13th place; Open section - Robert Muir, 2nd place.

| Speech & Debate Results |
Students from Flour Bluff Junior High and Flour Bluff High School competed at the Bishop High School Texas Forensic Association Speech tournament on October 13. Results were as follows:
High School
Teysha Dougherty - 3rd place in Student Congress and Nicole Raney - 5th place in Foreign Extemporaneous.
Junior High
Hailey Kimball advanced to semi-final rounds in both Poetry & Prose Interpretation and placed 8th overall in Prose Interpretation; Nathaniel Moore - 1st place in his preliminary round, 2nd place in the semi-final round and 5th place overall. The team of Nathaniel Moore and Crystal Costadoni competed in Duet Improvisation and placed 2nd in prelims, 3rd in the semi-final rounds and 1st place overall.
Approximately 20 teams competed overall with only one junior high school competing at this high school event - Flour Bluff Junior High. The combined points earned by FBJH competitors was enough to earn the squad 4th place overall sweepstakes.

| Marching Band Results |
|
The mighty Hustlin' Hornet Marching Band participated in the Cross Roads Marching Festival on October 13 and placed 3rd place in the 4A class. The Hornet Drum Line received 2nd place overall and the awesome Hornet Color Guard received "Best in Class" for the festival. The Hornet Band will be marching Saturday, October 20, in Robstown at the UIL Region Marching Contest. The band's performance time is 5:00 p.m. Go Band Go!!!!

| FBHS Robotics Team |
|
The FBHS Robotics team competed at Texas A&M Coastal Bend Regional BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) Robotics Competition in Kingsville, Saturday, October 13. Results were as follows: 1st place BEST (encompasses engineering notebook, oral presentation, table display, interview, website, spirit/teamwork, T-shirt, and robotics design/functionality); 1st place Website; 1st place T-shirt Design; and 4th place tournament. The team will now advance to the state level (November 29) and compete against 65 other schools from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma. In addition to winning the competition, each student will receive a scholarship and guaranteed acceptance to the Texas A&M Kingsville Engineering Program. Congratulations to the following students: Kevin Dellarocco, David Melin, Joey Cuhna, Alex Cuhna, Lyle Green, Jonathan Juillerat, Krista Torralva, Michael Kramer, Dustin Brandewie, Andriana Resendez, Carlos DeLeon, Marlyna Cunningham, JT Lanier, Bryton Galindo, Chris Cox, Anthony Cruz, and Robert Miller. Congratulations also to their sponsor Kenneth Stewart.

| Homecoming Mums on Sale |
The FBHS PTSA has been busy making homecoming mums for th  e upcoming Homecoming week activities and dance. Mums range from $5 - $50 depending on the size. They have wrist mums, garter mums, small mums, large mums and special order mums. Stop by the Hornet Spirit Shop and purchase yours now. You can also special order one; forms are available in the Spirit Shop. All proceeds go to the High School PTSA scholarship fund.
Homecoming week is October 29 - November 2.

| NJROTC Drill Meet |
Flour Bluff High School NJROTC will be hosting their 13th Annual Sea Hornet Drill Field Meet at Flour Bluff High School on Saturday, October 20. Over 30 teams from all over South Texas, San Antonio, Houston and Laredo will be competing. The meet starts at 8:00 a.m. and continues until 5:00 p.m. The events will be held at the high school, the varsity gym parking lot, Wranosky Gym, Hornet Stadium and the auditorium parking lot.
Events will include: Personnel Inspection, Armed Regulation Drill, Unarmed Regulation Drill, Armed Exhibition Drill, Unarmed Exhibition Drill, Male Color Guard and Female Color Guard. The Flour Bluff teams will not be competing since they are the host. Cadets and their parents (boosters) will be busy running the meet.

| Hornet Tennis Undefeated |
Congratulations to Coach Bonds, Coach Parsley,  and the Varsity Hornet Tennis Team! They are undefeated in district. Come cheer them on at the district tournament this Friday, as they play Kingsville at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, as they play Calallen at 9:00 a.m. Both matches will be at the Flour Bluff tennis courts.

| Homecoming Parade |
The Flour Bluff I.S.D. Homecoming Parade is scheduled for Monday, October 29, 2007. The parade will start at 6:00 p.m. at the corner of Compton and Waldron Road and travel south ending at Hornet Stadium. Entry forms are available on the district website or you can pick one up at the Administration office or at the Public Information Office.
