Multi-Purpose Field House
| Multi-Purpose Field House |
Construction is almost complete for the new Multi-Purpose Field House located behind the high school on the baseball/softball field complex. Construction began in early May for the new 6,800 square foot facility that will house baseball, softball and soccer teams. The facility includes offices, dressing rooms, lockers and showers. The athletic trainers will also h  ave a space available at the new facility.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled for January 2, 2008. The public is invited to attend.

| Art Students Recognized |
Students from Flour Bluff High School and Junior High were recognized at a reception at the Art Center for the Islands on December 2. The students' work will be displayed through December 28. Gallery hours are 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Teachers with students participating are Lisa Brown, Ron Richardson, Valerie Lichtenberger, Connie Vallie and Charlotte Walker. Student awards are as follows:
7th Grade:1st place - R.J. De La Paz; 2nd place - Jamon Schmidt; 3rd place - Sarah Langford.
8th Grade:1st place - Cassidy Reynolds; 2nd place - Gypsie Allvardo; 3rd place Taylor Gunn.
9th Grade: Honorable Mention - Kyle Gibson.
10th Grade:
1st place - K.K. Powell; 2nd place - Tyler Spaniol; Honorable Mention - Christy Poses.
11th Grade:1st place - Anthony Pabillano; 2nd place - Matthew Dargen; 3rd place - Adan Flores; Honorable Mention - Abbey Towne and Chris Lopez.
12th Grade:Best of Show - Edwardo Herrera; 1st place - Candace Packard; 2nd place - Lee Benson.

| TMEA All-Region Band Auditions |
Congratulations, Hornet Band! At the December 1, 2007, All-Region High School Band Auditions, nineteen FBHS students made the All-Region Band and six advanced to the All-Area Band Auditions to be held in January, 2008. Results are as follows:
All-Region Band: Alicia Renck, Allison Clark, Yong Min Ho, Mary Ann Gonzalez, Holly Dinh, Julia Cabral, Kristin Rivard, Julia Teck, Christa Rasor, Doug Beard, Carlton Jarbeaux, Claire Ellis and Chase Campbell (8th grade).
Selected to All-Region and advancing to All-Area Band: Monica Leal, Angela Gray, Grace Guthrie, Steven Keener, Vincent Cruz and Joseph Reyes.
The All-Region High School Band Concert will be held on December 8 at Gregory Portland High School Auditorium @ 4:30 p.m.

| Share Your Christmas Chess Tournament |
Congratulations to the FBISD Chess Club members participating in the Share Your Christmas Chess Tournament on December 1 at Windsor Park Elementary School. The Primary team, (1st-3rd), received a 3rd place team trophy and the Elementary team, (4th-6th), received a 2nd place team trophy. (They actually tied for 1st place, but came in second on the tie-breaker.)
Individual results are listed below:
Placing in the top 10 of the Primary division were Alex Wallett (5th) and Andrew Shaw (6th). Also participating and placing were Jonas Gallegos, Ammarie Wallett Sarah Muir, Christopher Ramirez, Trace Price, Collin Protzeller, Madison Cavanaugh, Timothy Ramirez, and Christopher Leinweber.
Placing in the top 10 of the Elementary division were Andrew Perez - 1st place with a perfect score, and Natanee Wallet (5th). Also participating and placing were Ryan Breen, Cameron Brower and Dallas Purcell. Kyle Breen also participated in the middle school division.
Receiving a 1st place in the high school division was Robert Muir.

| Art Exhibit - Angels & More |
The Noel McArdle Gallery, located in the Janet F. Harte Public
Library, will exhibit Angels and More by local artists, Carolyn Utigard Thomas and Eryn Thomas-Hopkins. The exhibit will open Thursday, January 3, and will run through Wednesday, January 30. Meet the artist at a reception at the Harte Library on Saturday, January 5 from 3-5 p.m. There is no charge for admission to view the exhibit or to attend the reception.
Gallery hours are:
Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 8:45 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays -10 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Sunday from 2 - 5:45 p.m.
