| NJROTC Annual Inspection |
|
The FBHS NJROTC held their Annual Military Inspection on December 17 at the Wranosky Gym. Commander Brian Hoyt, VT28 NAS, and XO Bill Cox, VT28 NAS, reviewed the troops and gave inspection. Seventeen cadets made a perfect score and received a Circle 10 pin. James Crenshaw, Principal of FBHS, and Dr. Julie Carbajal, Superintendent of FBISD, were also on hand to review the inspection. Great job SEA HORNETS!

| Art Students Honored |
| Students in Mrs. Lichtenberger, Ms. Vallie and Ms. Walker's Art and Digital Graphics and Animation classes were honored at an awards reception for their work at the Art Center for the Islands Annual Middle School and High School Student Art Show on December 7 in Port Aransas.
12th Grade Division - Anthony Pabillano’s colored pencil drawing was awarded Best of Show and 1st Place; Sydnie Alexander received 2nd Place, and Trevor Cook and Abbey Towne were also awarded Honorable Mentions.
11th Grade Division - Kathryn Wilkinson received 1st Place for her abstract acrylic painting; Lindsey Cox was awarded 3rd Place, and K.K. Powell received an Honorable Mention.
10th Grade Division - Paul Najarro was awarded 1st Place for his surrealistic acrylic painting.

| Christmas Tree Recycling |
| Recycle your Christmas tree on Saturday, January 10, or Saturday, January 17, for a free tree seedling. Volunteers will be on hand to unload your tree, and in return you'll receive a free Afghan Pine or Live Oak tree seedling, along with Master Gardeners' instructions on how to care for your new tree. Residents of Flour Bluff, NAS, and Padre Island can drop their trees off at FBISD Hornet Varsity Gym, Wal-Mart or the Padre Island POA between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on January 17. | 2009-2010 Proposed School Calendar |
The Calendar Committee has proposed two different calendars for the 2009-2010 school year. Employees will cast their ballots by January 9, and the Calendar Committee will meet again on January 15, 2009 to tally the ballots. The proposed calendars are posted online and parents and community members are encouraged to give us their feedback no later than January 9, 2009, at 12:00 noon.
