Recognized Campus Plaques Awarded
At the December 18, 2007, monthly administration staff meeting, Dr. Julie Carbajal awarded campus principals accountability plaques for the 2006-2007 school year.

Cheryl Cannon, Primary School Principal, Linda Barganski, Elementary School Principal, and Sal Alvarado, Intermediate School Principal, were awarded large wooden plaques to display in their buildings.

Commended Star Awards were also presented to the following campuses.

Danny Glover, Junior High Principal - Commended Reading and Writing;

James Crenshaw, High School Principal - Commended Social Studies, Comparable Improvement in Reading, Texas State Initiative in English Language Arts and Math; and

Sal Alvarado, Intermediate School Principal - Commended Reading; Commended Math, Comparable Improvement in Reading and Math.


Golf Team Fall Results
The Hornet varsity golf team finished the fall season with a strong finish taking third place overall in the Miller Golf Classic at Gabe Lozano on December 14-15, 2007. However, the team finished first in district competition which included Calallen, Alice and Kingsville. There were nineteen teams involved providing strong competition. Stephen Litz finished as the 4th place overall medalist. He also led the team, firing a 77 in the wind on the final day, followed by Ruben Jimenez shooting an 86, Brett Bralley an 89, and Eric Dent a 94. Austin Rock and Jonathan Spaniol both provided significant scoring support for the team.

Hawaiian King's Guard
Mr. Paul Naki, the Director of the Hawaiian King's Guard, who performed at the ROTC Grand National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida in May was on deck at FBHS NJROTC practice field to instruct the Sea Hornets in specialized training. The cadets spent their winter break from December 17-December 22, practicing with Mr. Naki. Commander Solis had the opportunity to participate in a summer drill camp with Mr. Naki and was able to make the arrangements for his visit.


High School Semester Test Schedule
Flour Bluff High School students will be on semester exam schedule January 9, 10 & 11. Letters were mailed home to parents on Friday, January 4, to explain the semester schedule and exemptions. Buses will run on their regular schedule January 9 & 10. However, on Friday there is an early dismissal of 11:30 and the bus schedule will be adjusted accordingly.



Congratulations to FBJH student Orlando Narvaez! He is the winner of the FBISD Food Nutrition Department and Aramark Services Christmas Food Drive and received a $50 gift card. There were 102 entrees and over 230 pounds of food donated to needy families in our community.
