Welcome Back Inservice Breakfast

The Hornet "Principal" Cheerleading Squad teaches a new cheer to faculty and staff at the Inservice Breakfast sponsored by the Flour Bluff I.S.D. Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc.

Faculty and staff returning from their winter vacation were treated to a breakfast hosted by members of the Foundation Board. Over 600 employees begin gathering in the high school cafetorium around 7:30 a.m. on January 3 and were treated to taquitos, Krispy Kreme donuts, fresh fruit, coffee and juices. The breakfast was underwritten by donations from Frost Bank (John Trice), Coca Cola and the law firm of Linebarger Groggan Blair & Sampson, LLP.

Board members Glenn Lyons, Sanford Perry, John Michael, Treva Bedwell, Pam Morgan, Melanie Hambrick, Vivi See, Lacy Harrelson and committee member Molly Clark made a presentation to the group about the benefits of the foundation and how they can be part of the process. Employees were eligible for over 60 door prizes, including $200 in cash, donated by Glenn Lyons, Naismith Engineering, Vivi See, Mixture, Michele and Windi Vianello and Green Things. Over $1,800 a month was pledged by employees and an additional $2,000 was donated as one-time contributions.

Superintendent Dr. Julie Carbajal closed the gathering by passing out maroon and white awareness bracelets with the new vision statement adopted by the district "Every Student is Worth My Best" embossed on them.

FISH Philosophy Returns
Dr. Julie Carbajal presented the "FISH Philosophy" to a group of employees on January 2, 2007, at the high school auditorium. The presentation was geared to those hired at FBISD after August 2003, but many long time staff and faculty also attended as a "refresher" course.

The FISH Philosophy was first presented to the staff by Dr. Carbajal in 2003 at a district wide inservice to help boost morale and have fun at work. The district continues to promote and incorporate the four main points, which are Be There, Make Their Day, Play, and Choose Your Attitude.
