Mason Carrell and President George Bush

Intermediate Student Meets Former President
Mason Carrell, a sixth grader at Flour Bluff Intermediate School attended a special event at the Winn Ranch December 12, 2007, and was honored to meet President George Bush.

President Bush awarded Mason his trophy for Best White Tail Buck 2006/2007 and Best Sportsman 2006/2007 at the Winn Ranch. Mr. Winn had invited Mason to his ranch to hunt last year.


TMEA Band Results
Congratulations to Monica Leal, FBHS band student!
Monica competed at the TMEA Area Band Competition in Alice on January 5, and was selected to the 4A All-State Band. She will perform in February at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio.

Also placing in the Area contest were: Grace Guthrie (5th), Steven Keener (3rd), Vincent Cruz (2nd) and Andrew Reyes (4th).



TMEA Choir Results
Congratulations to Erin Pilcher, FBHS choir student! Erin competed at the TMEA Area Choir Competition in Rockport on January 5, and earned third chair in the All-State Mixed Choir. She will sing with the All-State Mixed Choir in February. This is her third consecutive year to have earned the honor.

Also placing in the Area contest were: Angela Gray (Alto 2), Robby Black (Bass 1), and Court Flato (Tenor 1).




Dr. Scott Howell speaks to the FBHS Interact Club.
Interact Club News
Dr. Scott Howell visited FBHS and made a special presentation to students from the Interact Club about his missionary travels to help others in Africa, Guatemala, Ireland, Mexico and Columbia. Dr. Howell is an Eagle Scout and is active in the local Boy Scout troop. His presentation reinforced the guidelines and decision making process upon which the Interact Club is based. Ms. Delmagene Storm and Dr. Alicia Needham are the Interact Club Sponsors.


Rotary International Four-Way Speech Contest
Congratulations to Kindall Stephans for winning the
Rotary International Four-Way Speech contest held January 4, 2008 at Flour Bluff High School. Kindall will progress to the Area competition in March where she will represent the Padre Island Rotary Club and the Flour Bluff High School Interact Club.


Operation Graduation Events
Operation Graduation 2008 is holding several fundraisers to help sponsor a chemical-free party for graduating seniors of Flour Bluff High School. Those events include:

January 26 - 1st Annual Men's Volleyball Tournament
Varsity Gym - 4:00 - 10:00 p.m.
$3 admission at the door
