FB NJROTC Send-off
Friends, family, community members and staff gathered at the FBHS cafetorium on Wednesday, April 2, to wish the FB NJROTC good luck on reclaiming their title as Navy National Champions. The cadets left that evening for Pensacola, Florida, where they will compete with schools across the United States for the Navy National Championship. The competition will be held April 4-5 and the cadets will return on Sunday, April 6.

Chess Team Results

Flour Bluff Primary and Elementary School students participated in the Kingsville March Madness Chess Tournament on March 29 and came out on top as winners. The Primary Team (grades 1-3) and Elementary Team (grades 4-5) both received 1st place trophies. Individual results were as follows: Ammarie Wallett - 2nd; Alex Wallett - 4th; Andrew Perez - 2nd; and Natanee Wallett - 3rd. Also receiving medals were Cameron Browner, Ryan Schulz, Joshua Wigley, Christopher Leinweber, Christopher Ramirez and Timonthy Ramirez.



Employee Wellness Spring Walk-Run
Approximately 65 employees and a few spouses participated in the spring walk-run sponsored by the Employee Wellness Program. The weather was great, and we had little wind for the 2.5 mile walk and 3.5 mile run for participants. Results were as follows:

District High School UIL Academic Results
Flour Bluff High School participated in various UIL academic contests this past week and came away as District 31-AAAA Sweepstakes Academic Champion! They will now advance to the Regional UIL meet to be held at UTSA in San Antonio on April 11-12. Team results were: 1st place: Literary Criticism, Science, Mathematics, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Computer Science, Speech; 2nd place: Journalism; and 3rd place Social Studies and Spelling. Skills USA Competes at State Contest
FBHS Skills USA team did an outstanding job at the District 12 competition in Laredo and will now compete at the State competition held at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi this week-end. Contest sites will be held at Del Mar College, both Omni hotels, and the American Bank Center. Some of the events include automotive, welding, criminal justice, culinary arts, drafting, advertising, graphic communications and many more.

Athletic Physical Exams
The Flour Bluff Athletic Department has scheduled physical exams for the 2008-2009 school year for students on May 7 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. in the varsity gym. Dr. Robert Williams from Coastal Orthopedics will provide the examinations at a cost of $25 each. Physical forms will be available that day in the gym or students can pick one up in the athletic office if they prefer to go to their private physician. Call the athletic office for more information.

Chris Crutcher Visits FBHS
FBHS was honored with a visit from award-winning young adult author, Chris Crutcher, on Wednesday, April 2. Students from the junior high and high school attended special assemblies to hear Mr. Crutcher lecture. Afterwards they will able to get autographs and photos with him.

UP Students Attend Conference
Students enrolled in the FB University Preparatory High School Program were asked to present at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi 12th Annual Reading Conference, Catch the Wave of Literacy, at the University on April 4-5. Their presentation addresses literacy through the eyes of University Preparatory High School students. The students will lead the audience through the challenges, emotions, and demands of being enrolled in high school and college at the same time. Students presenting include: Megan Latimer, Trixie Peyer, Alexis Prieto, April Ayala, Michael Tacito, Amy Neisser, Lorena Gonzalez, Sabra Serino, Stephanie Rasmusson, Alexis Crosby, and Priscilla Parks.


FBISD Hosts Job Fair
Flour Bluff ISD will host it's 5th annual Job Fair on Saturday, April 12, from 9-12 noon at the Junior High School. Applicants can apply for teaching, coaching, classroom aides, technology, office positions, bus drivers, maintenance, custodians, and food service positions. Call the personnel office for more information.
