Students from the Flour Bluff Intermediate and Junior High School
won
first place at the state TMSCA (Texas Math and Science Coaches Association) competition on March 31 by a margin of 1000 points. Team results were: 1st Number Sense, 1st Calculator, 2nd Math and 3rd in Science. Five students were individual state champions:
Kellie Cyrus - 1st place in 8th Grade Number Sense with a perfect score of 400;
Angelica Montano -1st place in 8th Grade Calculator with a score of 391, which means she only missed one problem;
Cameron McIntyre - 1st place in 8th Grade Math;
Matt Gilmore -1st place in 7th Grade Calculator and
Steven Kyle - 1st place in 6th Grade Number Sense.
