School Board Recognitions
Celebrations and recognitions filled the administration board room on March 29 during the regular scheduled meeting of the Flour Bluff I.S.D. Board of Trustees. Students, teachers and staff members exhibited trophies, medals and certificates received at recent district and state competitions.

The Flour Bluff Elementary, Intermediate and Junior High teams were recognized for their UIL Sweepstakes Awards winning overall in grades 2-8. Our congratulations go to all the sponsors and students for representing Flour Bluff in such a big way.

Also receiving recognition at the board meeting were staff members Lynn Kaylor and Stephan Noack from the Public Information Office of FBISD. They recently received state honors from the Texas School Public Relations Association for district publications submitted at their annual conference for media awards. They were awarded 3 Gold and 6 Silver Stars for their entries.







Flour Bluff High School Sweeps UIL District Competition
The Flour Bluff High School UIL teams competed March 30-31 and also won Sweepstakes in their contest events. They have 23 students advancing to the Regional competition on April 14 at UTSA. For a complete list of results you can log on the UIL website or the FBISD website.

The One Act Play also advanced to the Area contest which will be held Saturday, April 7 at Gregory Portland High School. The performance time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for students. Good Luck Hornets!



FBHS NJROTC Competes for 11th Consecutive Title

The Flour Bluff NJROTC will depart for Pensacola, Florida on Wednesday, April 11 to compete for their 11th consecutive title at the Navy National Championship on April 13-14. There will be a community send-off from 6-6:30 in the high school cafeteria. Good Luck Seahornets!



Skills USA Advances to State and National Competitions
Congratulations to the Flour Bluff High School Skills U.S.A. team who competed at the district level competition held on March 3, and dominated the competition with top awards. District results were: Team Web Page Design - 1st place RyeLee Stewart and David Resendez; Firefighting - 1st place Rick Cruz and 2nd place David Melin; Computer Programming - 1st place John Tizzell; Quiz Bowl - 1st place Aaron Sanford, Lyle Green, Ian Lawson, Rick Cruz and Drew Altenburg; Related Technical Math - 3rd place Aaron Sanford; Computer Maintenance - 5th place Kevin Dellarocco and Computer Project - 1st place David Resendez, RyeLee Stewart and Lyle Green.

Advancing to the State competition and placing were: Rick Cruz - 1st place in Firefighting, Jon Titzell - 2nd place in Computer Programming, and RyeLee Stewart and David Resendez - 3rd place in Web Page Design. Rick Cruz will now advance to the National competition this summer. Congratulations to these students and their sponsor Mr. Kenneth Stewart.



Flour Bluff Students Win TMSCA Competition
Students from the Flour Bluff Intermediate and Junior High School won first place at the state TMSCA (Texas Math and Science Coaches Association) competition on March 31 by a margin of 1000 points. Team results were: 1st Number Sense, 1st Calculator, 2nd Math and 3rd in Science. Five students were individual state champions: Kellie Cyrus - 1st place in 8th Grade Number Sense with a perfect score of 400; Angelica Montano -1st place in 8th Grade Calculator with a score of 391, which means she only missed one problem; Cameron McIntyre - 1st place in 8th Grade Math; Matt Gilmore -1st place in 7th Grade Calculator and Steven Kyle - 1st place in 6th Grade Number Sense.

Congratulations to the team sponsor Mr. Joe Hay and to the following team members also placing in the top 20: Ian MacDonald, Robert Breedlove, David Acker, Nathan Portwood, Chase Campbell, Dilan Earwood, Robert Walker, Max Caruso, Trey Miles, Ryan Fitzgerald, Anna Knowles, Brandon Mendiola, Matt Blacketer, Robert Muir, and Katy Belew.



Flour Bluff I.S.D. Annual Job Fair


Digital Graphic & Animation Annual Exhibit
Flour Bluff High School digital graphics and animation classes will be showcased at the Noel McArdle Gallery located in the Janet F. Harte Library at 2629 Waldron Road, located next to the high school. The student artwork will be on display from April 3-29. There will be an opening celebration on Wednesday, April 4, from 5-7 p.m., at which time you can meet the artists and enjoy some refreshments. We invite you to come by and visit the exhibit and see the wonderful things our students are learning.


Relay Cookbook Goes on Sale
The Flour Bluff Student Nutrition Department plans to launch a new cookbook with those coveted school recipes everyone loves. The cookbook will contain many of the favorites; ranger and chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, King Ranch chicken, and green slush punch, just to name a few. Pre-sale begins April 10 at $7.50 per book. The book will contain 75+ recipes and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society as a Relay for Life Fundraiser.
