Flour Bluff High School special education teacher Kim Rezk was surprised today when HEB officials arrived at her classroom today with balloons, cake and a $1,000 check as part of the HEB Excellence in Education Awards program. Kim was named a finalist in the Rising Star category and is invited to attend a special celebration June 15 in San Antonio where the state winner will be awarded $5,000. Congratulations Kim!

Two FBISD students participated in the Technology Olympics for the Visually Impaired at the Education Service Center on May 10 and placed first place in their division. Brandon Yeagley, FB Intermediate, placed 1st in Reading Comprehension, 1st in Calculator Level 1 and 1st in Magnifier. Ryan Garcia, FBHS, placed 1st in Braille Writing Level 1, 2nd in Reading Comprehension and 3rd in Calculator Level 1. Congratulations Brandon and Ryan!

At the May 18 school board meeting Frank Brogan and Flo East were administered the oath of office by Judge Larry Cox and Janice Stoner. In the reorganization, Richard Pittman was elected president, Jimmy Kaylor was elected vice president and Flo East was elected secretary.

FBHS Freshman Anthony Pabillano took the TRIGStar test recently and scored a perfect 100 out of 100! He is now waiting for state results to see how he ranks in state. Congratulations Anthony!

Commencement exercises for the graduating class of Flour Bluff High School 2006 will be held at 8 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2006 in the American Bank Center Arena. Everyone is invited to attend this special celebration for our students.

The Employee Service Awards Breakfast will be held Thursday, May 25 at the high school cafetorium. Breakfast will begin at 7:15 a.m. and the program will start at 8:00 a.m. The theme this year is "Coming Together for Excellence."
