| Thanksgiving Holidays |
Sharon Walton, Director of Special Education, helps serve Thanksgiving lunch to students at the Intermediate School.
Administrators have been busy serving up turkey and dressing to Hornets this past week. The Food & Nutrition Department prepared a special menu for FBISD students, staff and parents and called on district administrators to help serve it to the students. According to Natasha Reagan, Director of Child Nutrition Department, approximately 5,200 Thanksgiving meals were served. FBISD will recognize November 22-24 as the Thanksgiving holiday for students and staff.

| Youth Appreciation Week |
|
Flour Bluff High School Senior Dana MacDonald was recognized by the Optimist Club of Downtown Corpus Christi at their annual Youth Appreciation Week luncheon on November 14. Dana was one of several students nominated from FBHS. The program is designed to honor students who have contributed selflessly to society and exhibits those qualities we would most like emulated by others. Dana attended the luncheon with her parents, Stephen and Margaret MacDonald, her counselor Scottie Holmes, and her English teacher Myriam Bell.

| FBHS Decathlon Team Takes 1st Place |
|
The FBHS Academic Decathlon team won first place at the Sinton Invitational Decathlon Meet on November 11. The Honors team members are Katy Gonzales, Kyle Huskin, and Megan Latimer. The Scholastic team members are Lisa Lawson, Thomas Cronnon, Wes Gaddie, Mat Gillum and Lillian Reitz. The Varsity team members are Juliana Vasquez, Aaron Alvarez, and Ariel Moore. Coaches of the team are Beth Huckabee and David Rubac. The team is working hard to get ready for Regional Competition January 19 and 20 in San Antonio.

| FBHS Choir Advances to Area/All-State |
|
FBHS choir students competed in the TMEA Region/Pre-Area Choir Auditions on November 4 at Tuloso Midway High School. Three students were named to the Region Treble Choir, and fifteen were named to the Region Mixed Choir. Advancing to the Area/All-State audition in January 2007 are: Lauren Rader, Erin Pilcher, Leah Breedlove, Tiffany Lee, Robby Black, Court Flato and Robert Garza. The choir is under the direction of Fernando Fernandez.

| Golf Team Finishes 1st in District Competition |
|
The Hornet Golf team is making a strong showing in this year's competition. The Varsity Boys' Golf team took 3rd place in the Carroll Invitational Tournament on November 10. Kyle Huett finished as the 3rd place Individual Medalist out of a field of approximately 60 players. The Hornets also finished 1st in district competition. The JV Boys' Golf team took 3rd place in the Moody Jr. Varsity Tournament on November 13. Will Hernandez took the 1st place Individual Medalist, shooting a 73 for the event. The Girls' team finished in the middle of the pack with Nesreen Gusbi shooting a team low 50, followed by Jessie Lott, 57, Kaitlin Hibbs, 58, and Katie Wilkinson, shooting a 59. The teams are coached by Chris Rodgers.

Tickets are on sale now for the musical Annie performed by the FBHS theatre arts, choir and band departments. Performances are December 1, 2 & 3 and December 8, 9 & 10. For more information call 694-9032.
