High School Graduation
Flour Bluff High School seniors will say good-bye to their alma mater on Thursday, May 29 as they walk across the stage at the American Bank Center Arena to receive their diplomas. The ceremony starts at 7:30 p.m. Congratulations to all the FBHS seniors and their teachers!

Teachers of the Year

Six teachers have been selected as Campus Teachers of theYear making them nominees for the FBISD District Teacher of the Year. One elementary and one secondary teacher will be named as District Teacher of the Year at the Employee Service Awards Breakfast held Thursday, May 29 at the high school cafetorium. Breakfast begins at 7:15 and the awards start at 8:00 a.m.

In addition to District Teachers of the Year, awards and recognitions will be given to campus paraprofessionals of the year, employees of the year, perfect attendance, tenure service awards and retirements.

Hornet Spirit Shop
The Hornet Spirit Shop will close for the school year on Tuesday, May 27 at 4:30 p.m. It will be open all day Tuesday to help with last minute shopping for graduation gifts. Several new items have been great sellers for gifts including hornet pillowcases, hornet blankets, hornet beach towels, and hornet jewelry.

The Spirit Shop will open on July 14 for the annual half-price t-shirt sale that will run through July 31. New t-shirt designs will arrive in the store August 4.



FBISD Summer Hours
As a means to help conserve energy and fuel cost during the summer time, FBISD offices will operate on a special summer schedule. Beginning June 2 and running through July 18, district and department offices will be open to the public Monday - Thursday, from 7:30 - 4:30 p.m. Campuses will be open to the public from 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday.

Latchkey will operate as usual Monday - Friday and summer programs will operate according to their posted schedules. Summer programs and schedules can be found on the website.


Kristine Holloway, FBISD Adaptive PE teacher, was named as
Special Olympic Coach of the Year for Area 2.

Student Accolades
Congratulations to FBJH students Erin Posey, Nicholas Warman, and Robert Walker as each were awarded a $2,000 U.S. EE Savings Bond in the eCYBERMISSION competition. The team won the 8th grade Southwest Criteria "Benefit to the Community" award in the 20070-2008 eCYBERMISSION competition. Congratulations also to their team advisor Mr. Bill Prather, JH science teacher.

Congratulations to Kynton Barnes, a 5th grader at FB Intermediate School who was awarded one of two scholarships to attend space camp in Huntsville, Alabama. A student in  Amy Caldwell's science class, Kynton has been participating in the Starbase-Atlantis program at NAS-Corpus Christi this year with his classmates.

Congratulations to Krystal Trlicek, a 5th grader at FB Intermediate School selected to participate in "Education in Action's Lone Star Leadership Academy", August 4-8, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. Krystal was nominated by her teacher Tracey Majek.



Athletic Boosters Award Scholarships
The Flour Bluff Athletic Booster Club awarded ten John Paul Barta Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $500 each to 10 fine athletes. The emphasis of the John Paul Barta Memorial Scholarship is on athletic ability and contribution to FB athletics, character and class as demonstrated through FB athletics. This years recipients were:
