Flour Bluff I.S.D. continues to operate school, based upon the Texas Education Agency and County Health Department guidelines. At this time, FBISD has no “probable” or “confirmed” cases of H1N1 (Swine) flu. We continue to monitor the situation and sanitize facilities and buses periodically throughout the day. We will make decisions as appropriate to protect the health and safety of all students.

Swine Flu Precautions
Flour Bluff I.S.D. is taking extra precautions to help prevent any contamination of the Swine Flu to its students and staff. All teachers, faculty and staff are continually on alert to keep our schools safe and secure.

The custodial staff cleans on a daily basis to be sure our buildings are cleaned and sanitized. As an extra precaution school buses are being wiped down at the end of each day with a disinfecting sanitizer outside their normal cleaning process. The district has also posted a Swine Flu Hotline on the district website for additional questions and concerns.

The following information has been issued to staff to help provide the necessary precautions to students:

• When coughing, cover your mouth with an article of clothing or use a kleenex. Coughing in the hand is unacceptable.

• Do not come to school if you are running a fever.

• Stay home if you are sick.

• Wash your hands with soap and water.

• The signs and symptoms of the Swine Flu are fever, cough and sore throat. A cough does not mean you have the Swine Flu.

• Once someone is diagnosed with the Swine Flu they are treated with Tamiflu or Relenza.

When a person is diagnosed, the members in the family home must also be treated.
