Flour Bluff ISD has a named a new head baseball coach for the 2005-2006 school year. Chris Rodgers, former pitching coach for Morehead State University and NCA Conference Champion, will bring a great deal of knowledge and experience to the Hornet dugout. Rodgers has spent three years coaching at the collegiate level, three years as an instructor at the Univeristy of Mississippi, and four years in the classroom in Houston, Mississippi. He also played college baseball at Mesa College in San Diego, California. Rodgers graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in Secondary Education, a Master’s in Exercise Science, and is completing his Doctorate in Exercise Physiology from the University of Mississippi. Rodgers mission is to provide the program with leadership, enthusiasm, discipline, and great integrity. “I am very excited for this opportunity and I am looking forward to working with the students and staff.”
When asked what his priorities will be as the leader of the Hornet baseball team he said, “I can’t wait to get to know the students and the coaches. I am anxious to get to work. Traditions are important to me and I understand there are a lot of traditions at Flour Bluff that I want to continue to promote.”
