Members of the Flour Bluff I.S.D. Board of Trustees have approved a $38. 5 million dollar budget for the 2005-2006 school year. According to Superintendent Julie Carbajal, “This year’s budget development process was unusual in that the Governor called two special legislative sessions in an attempt to establish taxpayer relief and accountability. The district and board of trustees have worked diligently preparing a balanced budget which gives employees a 4% pay raise and increases the starting teacher salary to $34,185, while maintaining one of the lowest tax rates in the area at $1.5262.”
The budget gives the district approximately $1.1 million for capital projects. As a result of increased enrollment the district is undergoing an expansion project at the Early Childhood Center at a cost of $1.6 million from fund balance.
The project provides nine additional classrooms and a physical education facility.
