|
Deborah Cox, fifth grade reading teacher at Flour Bluff Intermediate School has been selected as the elementary level recipient of the T.E.A.C.H. Award (Texas Educators Achieving Classroom Honors), established by the Texas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (Texas ASCD). Texas ASCD chose two outstanding individuals in the state, one elementary level and one secondary level recipient, that will receive the T.E.A.C.H. award this year. "We are very excited to have one of our teachers be the 2010 elementary recipient of the T.E.A.C.H. award," says Julie Carbajal, Superintendent. "Ms. Cox is the first teacher from Flour Bluff I.S.D. to be named as a recipient. We are extremely excited for her and the district." As a recipient, Ms. Cox will be recognized at the 2010 Texas ASCD Annual Conference on October 24-26 in Houston, Texas. Ms. Cox was nominated by her school principal, Mr. Sal Alvarado, who says her name came to mind for the nomination because she is a very innovative classroom teacher who takes her students to the next level at every opportunity.
