9/11 Tenth Anniversary Tribute

Flour Bluff I.S.D. will dedicate three 9/11 memorials on September 9, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Three remnants of the World Trade Center were obtained from the Port Authority of New York through the efforts of Master Chief Bruce Chaney, NJROTC Instructor of Flour Bluff I.S.D. The three remnants will be permanently housed at Flour Bluff High School, Flour Bluff Junior High, and the Flour Bluff I.S.D. Administration Building.

The tribute will take place Friday, September 9, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. in the Flour Bluff High School Teaching Theater. City leaders, state representatives, Corpus Christi Police and Fire personnel, Naval Air Station and Corpus Christi Army Depot personnel, FBISD Board of Trustees, local clergy, VFW and community members will be in attendance as we pay tribute to all who died in or from the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The dedication ceremony will include the presentation of the three World Trade Center remnants, a moment of silence and the FBHS ensemble and choir.

As a special tribute, the World Trade Center remnant housed at the high school will be placed next to photo memorials of two Flour Bluff High School graduates, John Paul Barta (2000), Paul Holter, III (2001) and former student Matthew Ogden, who lost their lives while serving their country in Iraq.
