Red Ribbon Week October 22-26, 2007
FBISD Celebrates District-Wide

Flour Bluff I.S.D. will celebrate Red Ribbon Week district-wide October 22-26. Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to encourage healthy lifestyles and to encourage students to lead drug free lives. Special events district-wide are listed below.

Early Childhood Center

Monday, October 22- Wear CRAZY socks to school. Wear shoes, too!
Tuesday ,October 23 - Wear your favorite HAT. High school athletes will read to students.
Wednesday, October 24 - "Wear RED Day".
Thursday, October 25 - "CAREER Day" - Dress as what you want to be when you grow up.
Friday, October 26 - "SPIRIT Day" - Wear school colors or your Flour Bluff spirit shirt.

Primary School

Monday, October 22 - "Wear Red Day" - students will sign a pledge card with their classmates.
Tuesday, October 23 - "Combat Drugs Day" - students may war camouflage clothing.
Wednesday, October 24 - "Team Up Against Drugs Day" - Students may wear their favorite sports team jersey or T-shirt; pep rally at 9:30 in the cafeteria with guest speaker, Sheriff Jim Kaelin.
Thursday, October 25 - "Follow Your Dream, Don't Do Drugs" - Students may wear pajamas with tennis shoes.
Friday, October 26 - "Drugs Are Not in My Character" - storybook character parade - students may dress up as their favorite story book character.

Food Drive for Timon's Ministries - students may bring a canned or non-perishable food item to school all week to help support Timon's Ministries. The food drive will continue through November 9, 2007.

Elementary School
Monday, October 22
- "Turn Your Back on Drugs" - wear your shirt backwards; students will sign pledge cards; and food drive continues.
Tuesday, October 23 - "FBE Combats Drugs in Our Community" - Wear camouflage clothing; can food drive continues.
Wednesday, October 24 - "Red Ribbon Pep Rally" - Pep rally at 1:30 in the cafeteria; everyone wears red, NO jeans allowed; can food drive continues.
Thursday, October 25 - "Hugs not Drugs" - Bring your favorite stuffed animal to school; can food drive continues.
Friday, October 26 - "Sock it to Drugs" - Everybody wear crazy socks; announce winners of 3rd & 4th grade door decoration contest; ice cream treats for the winners.

Food drive for Timon's Ministries will begin October 17 and run through October 25.

Intermediate School

Door Decorating Contest - Doors will be judged on Friday, October 26. Winning classrooms get ice cream passes.
Poster Contest - Each classroom picks their best poster and submits it for the school wide competition.
5th Grade Slogan/6th Grade Composition Contest - Each class will submit a slogan or composition (depending on grade) to persuade people not to use drugs. Teachers will select a slogan or composition from their class to be submitted by October 24. Two winning slogans and compositions will be selected to be read on Intermediate Live.
Best Behavior Awards - Two will be awarded per class. Prizes will be displayed throughout the week. Students will be picked and awarded by their homeroom teacher by October 26.
Catch A Class Being Good - This can be anywhere or anytime throughout the week by teachers, administrators, and staff.

Drug free films will be shown throughout the week according to grade level schedule. Activity booklets have been ordered for every student.

Monday, October 22 - Patriotic Day - "Proud to Be Drug Free" - wear red, white and blue.
Tuesday, October 23 - Sock Day - "Sock It To Drugs" - wear crazy socks
Wednesday, October 24 - Red Day - "Red to Remember - Don't Do Drugs" wear red day
Thursday, October 24 - Ribbon Day - "Wear Your Red Ribbon" - students will be given red ribbons by teachers
Friday, October 25 - Sportswear Day - "Team Up Against Drugs" - wear your favorite FB clothing.

Junior High
Monday, October 22 - Crazy Hat Day
Tuesday, October 23 - Spirit Day
Wednesday, October 24 - Wear Red Day
Thursday, October 25 - Sports Fan Day
Friday, October 26 - Hero Day

High School
Monday, October 22- "Awareness" Day. Student Council members will decorate inside/outside of campus; Communities in Schools will set up a table in the cafeteria to distribute ribbons, and pledge forms.
Tuesday, October 23 - "Ribbon Rally" Day. Red ribbons will be distributed campus wide.
Wednesday, October 24 - "Wear Red Day". Students and staff wear red as a symbol of their commitment to keep our school drug free.
Thursday, October 25 - "Unity" Day. Students and staff wear red, white, and blue to symbolize their commitment to unite in preventing drug uses in our schools, workplaces, and the community.
Friday, October 26 - "Team Up Against Drugs" Day. Students and staff dress up in their Hornet school spirit shirts. Cheerleaders will distribute miniature footballs "Winners Don't Do Drugs" during the football game.
