Flour Bluff Independent School District 2008-2009 Registration Information

Students New to the District

Documents Needed for Enrollment at All Campuses

  • birth certificate

  • report card

  • TAKS or achievement test scores

  • current immunization records

  • student’s social security card

  • proof of residency

Social Security Numbers

The Texas Education Agency requests that each student have a social security number which will become his/her school identification number. Please have your student’s social security card available at registration.

Immunizations

Flour Bluff I.S.D. is hosting an immunization clinic August 14, 2008, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Flour Bluff High School Band Hall located in the Auditorium.

Proof of Residency

Texas law states that only minors whose parents/ guardians reside within the boundaries of the school district are entitled to attend school in that district, unless approved for a transfer. Proof of residency must be provided each year at registration. Usual accepted proof of residency may be one or more of the following:

  • current utility bill indicating the address of service and the parent/guardian’s name

  • current notarized rental/lease agreement

  • current tax receipt indicating home ownership

  • letter from a governmental agency with your current address

  • current contract on a house (provided that loan has been approved and signed by both buyer and seller)

  • current valid driver’s license or Texas identification card

Your cooperation and understanding are requested in our efforts to determine residency. Families wishing to enroll students on a transfer basis should contact central office administration.


Early Childhood Center

Pre-Kindergarten
(694-9036)
Registration - August 4 - from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Early Childhood Center

Enrollment requirements:

  • four (4) years old as of September 1, 2008

  • qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch Program and/or

  • does not speak or comprehend the English language and/or

  • homeless as defined by 42 U.S.C.S. Section 11302 and/or

  • has been in the conservatorship of CPS as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code.

  • eligible military dependents

Kindergarten (694-9036)
Registration - August 4 - from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Early Childhood Center.

Enrollment requirements:

• five (5) years old as of September 1, 2008


Primary School

Grades 1 & 2 (694-9600)
Registration - August 4 - from 8:30 - 12:30 at the Primary School

Enrollment requirements for first grade:

• must be six (6) years old as of September 1, 2008


Elementary School

Grades 3 & 4 (694-9500)
Registration - August 4 - from 8:30 - 12:30 at the Elementary School


Intermediate School

Grades 5 (694-9400)
Registration - August 4 from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the Intermediate School

Grade 6 (694-9400)
Registration - August 4 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Intermediate School


Junior High School

Grades 7 & 8 (694-9384 or 694-9387)

Returning Students

Registration will be held for all returning students, grades K - 12, at the Flour Bluff High School cafetorium from 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on the following dates by alphabet of last name. Families may register all their children, at all grade levels, at the same time on these designated days. Kindergarten students who preregistered in May, 2008 may also register on these days.

Wednesday August 6 A, B, W, Y, Z
Thursday August 7 C, D, E, T, U, V
Friday August 8 F, G, S
Monday August 11 H, I, J, P, Q, R
Tuesday August 12 K, L, M, N, O

Late registration for new and returning students at all grade levels will be on individual campuses August 14 from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.

The following campuses will hold “Meet the Teacher” sessions at the following designated times on August 14 for all new and returning students.

ECC Pre-K & Kindergarten 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Primary Grades 1 & 2 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Elementary Grades 3 & 4 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Intermediate Grade 5 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Intermediate Grade 6 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Junior High Grades 7 & 8 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
High School Grades 9-11 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.


High School Students

Students must be in compliance with the school dress code in order to register. All returning high school students will be issued a new ID, if necessary. Any student who drives must display a parking permit. Parking permits will be issued FREE of charge during registration. Proof of insurance is required. Previous year fines for textbooks and library books may also be paid at this time.

University Prep - all students will follow the above guidelines for registration.

ACE - all students previously accepted for ACE will follow the above guidelines for registration. Students interested in being selected for the ACE program should contact the high school guidance office for an application.

High School Athletics

Football practice begins August 4.
Cross Country practice begins August 6.
Volleyball practice begins August 4.
Tennis practice begins August 4 (varsity tryouts only).

  • All athletes must have a physical prior to practice.

  • Athletes may be asked to purchase some equipment/ clothing for their sport.

  • Coaches will need contact information for every athlete.

  • Official physical forms can be downloaded from the FBISD website. Other forms will not be accepted.

High School Band

Band practice for all high school students is as follows:
July 30 - Drill Instructor Training 8 a.m. - 12 noon
July 31-Drill Instructors & Freshman - 8 a.m. - 12 noon
Aug 1- Full Band Camp 8 a.m. - 12 noon
Aug 4-8 - Full Band Camp 8 a.m. - 12 noon & 6-8 p.m.
Aug 11-13 - Full Band Camp 8 a.m. - 12 noon & 6-8 p.m.
Aug 15 - Full Band Camp 8 a.m. - 12 noon & 6-8 p.m.
Aug 18-22 - Full Band Camp 8 a.m. - 12 noon & 6-8 p.m.
Aug 25 - Monday night rehearsals begin 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Classes begin Monday, August 25
