In the span of 10 years, this Unit has been an Honor Unit/Distinguished Unit 9 times, and has won the Navy National Championship in each of the past 7 consecutive years. Additionally, of approximately 3000 JROTC Units in the United States, Flour Bluff’s Armed and Unarmed Drill teams are the first Navy teams to have ever won the All-Service Nationals, and only the third school in over 20 years of competition to have won both Grand National championships in the same year (2003). While National Championships are competitive events, they can be used as a quantitative measure of overall unit excellence. These championships measure personnel appearance, academic excellence, physical fitness, and drill team development. The fact that Flour Bluff has won JROTC National Championships in 7 of our 10 years of existence, should leave little doubt as to the strength of this program. No other unit in the Nation has been able to achieve these accomplishments during that timeframe, let alone maintain the effort necessary to sustain that level of success.
